Photography Feature: Nicole Pietrzak-Friedrich, “Sustained Investigation”

The focal point of my sustained investigation was the idea of hidden identities. As human beings, we are complex creatures that have many layers defining who we are. At first glance or through brief interaction, we may think we understand someone. However, this glimpse fails to reveal the true essence of an individual. My goal was to capture photos that reveal only a single layer of a person, lacking the details that portray their identity. By obscuring specific features and elements, I highlight the fact that there is far more to a person than what meets the eye. –Nicole Pietrzack-Friedrich
