MORTON COLLEGE MAKES BUDGET CUTS, SELLS MICROWAVE TO FUND NEW CLAW MACHINE
Students, staff, and faculty: if you’ve made your way through the cafeteria or maybe stopped by Paisans, there’s no chance you’ve missed the large line of eager students waiting for their turn at the brand-new claw machine. No, much to our detriment, it’s not a line for a new vending machine with different options.

Students have been raving over the prizes, including keychain plushies of different Pokémon or Sanrio characters. However, some students are questioning the decision to replace one of two student commons microwaves with this new form of entertainment.
“The other day, I waited nearly 20 minutes just to heat up my lunch!” one student explained. “I thought I had simply picked the wrong time to use the microwave, but it turns out I was waiting in line for the claw machine. Now I have a warm lunch but one less dollar in my pocket.”
While the claw machine is clearly popular among students, many are left to wonder whether this new lunchtime option truly addresses the needs of the student body or if it simply serves as a colorful distraction from a more pressing issue: the lack of accessible kitchen amenities.
